海龟为什么会吃塑料袋

海龟之所以会吃塑料袋，是因塑料袋在海里和水母很像 。龟最喜欢的食物便是水母，一顿甚至可以吃下几十只水母 。而漂浮的塑料袋在海里膨胀开来，就好像水母一样 。正在寻找食物的海龟，便误把塑料袋当作水母吃了下去 。
海龟爱吃什么爱干什么1.海龟生活于近海上层 。以鱼类、头足纲动物、甲壳动物以及海藻等为食 。海龟虽然没有牙齿，但是它们的喙却非常锐利，不同种类的海龟就有不同的饮食习惯 。海龟分为草食，肉食和杂食 。
2.蠵龟和鳞龟有颚，可以磨碎螃蟹、一些软体动物、水母和珊瑚 。而玳瑁海龟的上喙钩曲似鹰嘴，可以从珊瑚缝隙中找出海绵、小虾和乌贼 。绿龟和黑龟的颚呈锯齿状，主要以海草和藻类为食 。
3.海龟在吃水草的同时也吞下海水，摄取了大量的盐 。在海龟泪腺旁的一些特殊腺体会排出这些盐，造成海龟在岸上的“流泪”现象 。
4.每年4～10月为海龟繁殖季节，常在礁盘附近水面交配，需3～4小时 。雌海龟每年产卵多次，每次产91～157枚卵 。夜间，雌海龟一般选择坡度小、沙质松软的海滩登陆 。找到合适的产卵地点后，雌海龟就会掘出一个洞穴，然后在洞穴里产卵 。

To test that idea, he and his colleaguesset up an experiment involving loggerhead turtles , a species frequently killed by plastic. They arranged for 15 of the animals, each around five months old, to be exposed, in random order, to four odours delivered through a pipe to the air above an experimental arena . The odors were: the vapor fromdeionized water ; the smell ofturtle-feeding pelletsmade of shrimp and fish meal; the smell of a clean plastic bottlechopped up into ten pieces ; and the smell of a similarly chopped bottle that had been kept in the ocean for five weeks to allow algae and bacteria to grow on it.

When sniffing both the odor of food pellets and that of five-week-old bottles turtles kept their nostrils out of the water more than three times as long, and took twice as many breaths as they did when what was on offer was the smell of fresh bottle-plastic or deionized-water vapor.On the face of it , then, the turtles were responding to the smell of old bottles as if it were the smell of food.
